The Saskatoon firefighters were tired of paying high interest to the banks, so they started a pay day loan fund with an old Nabob coffee can in the kitchen of the fire hall.

If someone was short on cash, they would borrow $5.00, then on pay day they would put $5.50 back in the coffee can. Before long, there was too much money to keep in the coffee can, so they formed the Saskatoon City Employees Credit Union in 1947.

They then included the City of Saskatoon Police, and then the rest of the city departments. From humble beginnings, we have grown into what we are today and are proud to be the only exclusive Credit Union serving Saskatoon city employees, their families, and city retirees!
